First in Series #Free in February: Fall in Love with a New Series

Explore three different takes on paranormal mystery: esoteric, comic, and psychic.

Under the Stone Paw

Book one in the Power Places Series

A forgotten family legacy. Six crystal keys. One shot at unlocking the secrets beneath the Sphinx.

Anne Le Clair, a successful, young attorney, has always managed to remain free from her family’s gothic past—until now. When she inherits her eccentric aunt’s antique necklace though, she finds no escape from its secrets. Anne is immersed in a crash course of forbidden wisdom, secret societies, and her family’s own legacy. She soon discovers that her aunt’s necklace is one of just six powerful “keys” that, when combined with the other five at the appointed time, unlocks the legendary Hall of Records. However, another group, the shadowy Illuminati, is working behind the scenes to uncover the same powerful secrets—and make them their own.

Katherine Kurtz, author of the Adept series, says “ . . . one of the best esoteric novels of the past decade.  Crater knows her way around Egypt and its mysteries.  Evil Illuminati, ancient artifacts, and conspiracies abound. Surpasses the Da Vinci Code.”

 The Outlaw Women

Folk healer and seer Rhoda-Sue Outlaw Jackson knows her time on earth is running out when she hears the voice of her late husband telling her she has only but so many heartbeats left. She’s had a troubled relationship with her daughter, and has little hope of passing on her extraordinary gifts, either to this difficult daughter or to her granddaughter. With the final hour around the corner, she brings her family together for one more try. Can she leave the world at peace with them, as well as with her legacy?

This prequel to the Mae Martin Psychic Mystery Series introduces Mae at age ten, as seen through the eyes of her grandmother.

The Giveaway: #Free books on #Nook, #Kobo, #iTunes Bookstore and more

Quite a few of the ongoing characters in my murder-less mystery series are Apache, and one of their customs is the giveaway. On special occasions, the family at the center of the event gives gifts to the community. Nothing necessarily expensive, but practical, simple things anyone can use. I like the idea of celebrating by giving. The release date for my next book is approaching, and I just had a birthday, so I decided to celebrate both these events by giving books away.

Three books will be free for sixty days. (Guess my age.) The Calling, book one in the Mae Martin Psychic Mystery Series, The Outlaw Women, the short prequel to the series, and Bearing, the standalone short read based on Apache myths. I call Bearing “subtle horror.” No gore or monsters, just the scare that creeps up.

Help yourself to one or to all three. Just click on the titles to find download links to all retailers. (Despite my requests, Amazon has not made The Outlaw Women free yet at the time of this posting, but heck, this blog is for people who don’t have Kindles, right?)

Happy reading, and happy Halloween. Any authors with free books that are available on Nook, Kobo and Apple, feel free to reply with the buy links from your web site.

Review: Bad Spirits by DV Berkom

BadSpirits_9_12 (1)I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that takes so many heart-stopping sudden twists in so few pages. The novella begins dramatically and only cools down enough at times to let the reader and the protagonist recover for the next brush with death. Kate Jones is a character I want to follow through the rest of her adventures. In this book, she attempts to escape from a life-changing mistake, a romantic involvement with a man who turned out to be a drug lord. It’s a classic tough-choice plot, with no good options. Kate takes the bravest route, with best potential long-term outcome but also the greatest risks, and she does it her own way. With a Mexican setting the author clearly knows well, Bad Spirits will take you on hair-raising ride with a kick-ass heroine. I look forward to the rest of series.

This first in the Kate Jones thriller series is currently available free.
